LADDERBALL
The biggest challenge for any person hosting a party is finding a way to make sure everyone has fun. After all, what good is a party if it just isn’t fun? Because we come from a large family, most of our family parties have between 30 to 45 guests. These guests range in age from 1yr. old to 82 years old. So when planning our parties, we always first decide if it will be an indoor party (because of the cold or time of day) or an outside party. Once you have that determined, the creativity and fun can begin! Our family has always loved friendly competitions, so no party is complete without games.
Our all time favorite outdoor game is Ladderball. We take it to almost every party or family outing- such as, camping, beaching, and picnics in the mountains. One of the main reasons it is such a family favorite is because everyone (age 5 to 82) can play it and be surprisingly competitive. You don’t have to be an athlete or young person to be able to toss a rope with 2 golf balls on the ends. It’s so simple and fun!

CROQUET
Another one of our familys’ favorite outside games is Croquet. Like Ladderball, it can be played by anyone from ages 5 to 85! You don’t need a lot of space and it sets up so easily in grass- or even dirt (my family tries everything!). You can usually find a fairly good croquet set for anywhere around $30 to $50.
But if you have some No-nonsense Croquet fans, a really great set can be found on Amazon. This is the set we purchased for our older son and he loves the quality and longer mallets.
