If you’re looking for a fun game that anyone, age 5 to 95, can play, Ladderball is the one! We take this game everywhere- camping, the cabin, the mountains for picnics, the beach, to all our family parties- absolutely anywhere that there will be family fun and competitions!
Since my boys were little, they loved playing horseshoes. The only problem was that they couldn’t play it unless there was a lot of dirt to set the horseshoe stakes in. Another big problem was that not everyone could lift those heavy metal horseshoes- let alone throw them a pretty good distance to get anywhere near the stakes. So unfortunately, most of the children and the older adults couldn’t participate in the games.
But then one day we saw a family on the beach playing Ladderball. It looked so fun, and because it looked like it was a homemade game, my boys tried to replicate it when we got home. They attached all the PVC pipes together and it worked pretty well. The biggest problem was that it was too big and bulky to take anywhere unless we had access to a truck.
Fast-forward a few years, and my family has gone through many purchased sets (however, many were so rinky dink that the frame kept falling over, or the balls came off the ropes or just weren’t heavy enough, or the frame would only last a few games before it came apart.) But no matter what the flaw with the equipment was, we were all hooked on the game and made due with what we had because it was the one game that everyone in the family could play.
For our family, one of the best things about Ladderball was that Grandma and Grandpa didn’t have to sit back and watch everyone else have fun playing games. This is a game that an eighty year old Grandpa can play against his adult grandchildren and Win! This is why we think Ladderball is the ultimate family game! Everyone in the family plays and everyone has a chance to win!
As Ladderball has become more and more popular, some manufactures have started making the game much more durable. However, there are still lots of low costs ones in stores that are such poor quality, that they take most of the fun out of the game.
After buying several sets of Ladderball over the last 10 years, we finally found one this last summer that has been our favorite. (We don’t even need to use a truck to take it places anymore). This one also has the strongest frame we have found and real golf balls! It’s really easy to set up and take apart, and it came with its own carrying case to store the game in (this in itself sold us because of all the hassles we have had over the years trying to transport our Ladderball).
So if you’re looking for a fun, easy game that your whole family can participate in, I strongly suggest Ladderball.
